Hi all,

 I recently pulled a 3 yr old Red Smooth SF Doxie from Contra Costa Animal Services that was dumped in the night drop in our Pinole facility.
She came in not being able to use her back legs. The shelter diagnosed her with IVDD but they did not have X-ray capability. I pulled her last Friday and immediately took her to my vet. He confirmed that she does not have Cancer or basically a broken back. She does have IVDD starting at L-4 to S-1. My vet saw her again today and we had Chiro done on her and it was very encouraging. We definitely noticed more mobility slightly and she had a faster reaction to deep pain sensitivity in her paws. My vet and the Chiro Doctor were very optimistic about her regaining mobility.

I recently read an article about a Doxie that did not have use of both her front and rear legs. After 10 treatments of acupuncture she was walking! For any of you that have had experience with recovery from this, I would welcome your comments.

Dr. Oglesby received her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She completed her clinical studies at Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. At Purdue, she received the award for Excellent Clinical Proficiency. After receiving her DVM, Dr. Oglesby first worked in general practice at Linda Mar, and then completed her internship at San Francisco Veterinary Specialists (SFVS) with an emphasis on emergency medicine. She worked in general practice at the San Francisco SPCA, before rejoining SFVS as an emergency clinician for the last four years. Dr. Oglesby first explored and utilized holistic medicine with her patients during her internship in 2008.
