FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE :

SUNDAY GRAND MASTER'S DAY EVENT AT TAPPAN CANCELLED

HURRICANE / HEAVY WINDS / FLOODS EXPECTED TO IMPACT OUR METRO NYC AREA

In a joint announcement today, MW William J. Thomas, Grand Master of Masons in the State of New York, and the George Washington Masonic Historic Site at Tappan Committee, have announced that the Grand Master's Day activities and program scheduled for this Sunday, October 4th.have been canceled due to the threat of severe weather. (see below). The event will not be rescheduled this year.

RW Louis M. Irizarry, II, Chairman of the Committee has advised that all prepaid luncheon reservation checks will be returned.

The most reliable weather services stated that an exceptional strong front will be impacting the local New York City metropolitan area through late in the day on Saturday. Heavy periods of rain on Friday into Saturday as well as gusting winds will impact the area. because of Hurricane Joaquin.

Grand Master Thomas has urged our Brethren to begin to prepare for the uncertainties of the forecast and take time to review emergency preparedness plans and emergency supplies.

The next major activity on the schedule for the historic Washington Headquarter's site will be the annual celebration of George Washington's Birthday in February. Details will be announced later. When more normal autumn weather returns to the area, brethren, families and friends are always welcome to visit the DeWint House and the beautiful historic site with the lovely gardens and plantings. Fall foliage is always spectacular in the area.
