Way back in 2000, I worked for a dot-com startup and had to have some dealings with Verio. Already, at that time, they had grown very big, and I heard some horror stories from some people.
In later years, I know I have heard a few things that made me feel, "these guys are a behemouth. And they are not designed for great customer service, and are very formulaic."
I just do not associate Verio with quality. It's been many years, so they may have improved things.

I'll just say that I have some opinions about Verio. They bought up a lot of people, and got very very big. But ...

I don't use WordPress, but I've used Verio for years. My package is $11.95/mo. Extremely dependable, excellent online tools. Responsive support via email and online.. I think they're based in Texas.

I use http://AISO.net for clients. They are a 100% solar facility, from the ground up. They're techie, and they are not too big, nor too small. They are not the cheapest (about 15 bucks a month), but for my clients, I like that, because it means they're on a host that no fly-by-nighters are going to be using.
They're in Southern Cal, which is fairly close, and they have great tech support.
OTOH, for myself I use Dreamhost, because for development and experimentation, it's great. Wonderful control panel, and unlimited domains for one low fee. But, their performance can suck sometimes. I just signed up for their virtual server program, and I think that has made some improvements.

Someone is asking me for Wordpress hosting recommendations.?
I have been happily using Dreamhost for years. I also use Slicehost when I need root access, but nothing in Wordpress really requires that.?
Interested in hearing other suggestions.?
