The [Appalachian Mountain Club](https://www.outdoors.org/) (“AMC”) is one of the oldest outdoors groups in the United States.  We offer activities for all types and levels of outdoor enthusiasts, including hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, kayaking, bicycling and more!
AMC has 12 regional chapters in the Northeast region that stretch from Maine to Washington, D.C.  The [New York-North Jersey Chapter ](https://www.amc-ny.org/)is the second largest with over 12,000 members.  We have over 100,000 members nationally. 
Young Members (“YM”) is an affinity group within AMC for members in their 20’s and 30’s.  YM holds monthly outdoors events (e.g., day hikes, camping trips, kayaking trips) and a happy hour on every third Thursday of the month (“Thirsty Third Thursdays”).  A few times a year, we hold inter-chapter events with YM groups from the 11 other chapters in our organization.
If you’re interested in the outdoors and are looking to make new friends, then please come to one of our events.  Please note that we’re open to everyone, including “non-members”!
