A heartbroken alien living in L.A., an aging fisherman who has an intimate relationship with a lobster, and a gay man struggling with the age gap between him and his partner make up some of the fascinating and complex characters in Ian Samuels’s short films.

Presented by The Contemporary Arts Center and the New Orleans Film Society as part of the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers. Southern Circuit Tour is a program of South Arts. Screenings are funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
Last week we announced the 173 selections chosen from the New Orleans Film Festival open call for submissions. The lineup was chosen from a total pool of more than 3,400 films, a record number for the festival!
Louisiana filmmakers, submit a mini pitch video for the opportunity to get feedback from industry judges on your next project!
The 2016 Create Louisiana Filmmakers Grant is an industry building program designed to recognize all the burgeoning, indigenous filmmakers that contribute to Louisiana's vibrant creative economy. The grant is open to a local filming team and will provide the team with a $50,000 grant to create a short film project.

A partnership of the New Orleans Film Society, the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and Create Louisiana with support from lead sponsor Deep South Studios.

In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, the New Orleans Film Society is eager to announce a new donor level, the Quarter Century Club. We hope you will consider becoming an inaugural member of our Quarter Century Club, a new initiative aimed at celebrating our rich history and launching us into an exciting future. As a supporter at this level, you will lay the foundation for a series of important new projects supporting emerging filmmakers, including a mentorship program for Black directors from Louisiana, education programs for New Orleans public school students, and an initiative to offer grants to local filmmakers.

This new donor circle will help us start a new chapter—one that ensures the film industry continues to generate significant economic impact for the people of New Orleans and Louisiana. We hope you will join us in our work to bring more diverse voices to the screen and to educate young people about the job opportunities within the film industry. For more information, click here.
