On Saturday, #CreateLouisiana announced the launch of the 2018 French Culture Film Grant, a collaboration with TV5MONDE USA, Cox Communications, Deep South Studios, and the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. The $30,000 grant opportunity is designed to celebrate stories of Louisiana’s French culture created by Louisiana filmmakers.

In its second year, the French Culture Film Grant will award $30,000 to one Louisiana-based filmmaking team to create an innovative new film that showcases Francophone culture and talent. With a final application deadline of May 1 at 11:59 PM CST, this opportunity is open to narrative short films or documentary features and requires that all film proposals include English and French components that exhibit aspects of French Louisiana art, music, and society. The final film will premiere at the 2019 French Film Festival in partnership with the New Orleans Film Society

In April 2017, #CreateLouisiana awarded the inaugural French Culture Film Grant to the short narrative film “Le Grand Remix.” Directed and written by Austin Alward of 4A Films and produced by Sam Claitor of Fable House, the film premiered at the French Film Festival last Saturday. Next stop is a March 21 broadcast on TV5MONDE USA “Le Grand Remix” as part of the channel’s 23rd edition of French Language and Francophonie Week!
