Hi there,
Is the January meetup on?

Is there going to be a call for papers for the accessibility stream for the www conference?

Cheers

To the Perth accessibity meetup group

Following on from a great meetup this morning here’s a few updates on what was discussed and other things coming up

THANKS FOR A GREAT MEETUP TODAY

Firstly, thanks to everyone for a great final meetup for 2016 – it was a great turnout and the Q&A session worked really well.  For the questions I asked on behalf of others,

I’ll forwarde our answers back to the people that gave the questions to me.  I reckon Sean takes quote of the day honours when he said in relation to app accessibility ‘if a doorknob looks like a doorknob, you should be able to turn it!’  Sums up the accessibility

argument perfectly.

We collected $23.20 today which has been transferred to Ivy for the upkeep of our meetup presence.

OUTRUNNING THE NIGHT BOOK LAUNCH

Thanks Greg and David for your ‘subtle’ plugging of my book ‘Outrunning the Night’ launching next week.   The launch event is free and if you’re interested in coming along, details

are at http://otnlaunch.eventbrite.com.au.   The book will appear on Amazon as a paperback, Kindle e-book and there’ll also be a professionally narrated audio book.

OZEWAI 2016 – 28-30 NOVEMBER IN CANBERRA

This year’s OZeWAI is nearly here and its packed full of great information.  With many people from the Perth meetup heading over, expect to be kept informed about some exciting

developments in the field

WA ACCESSIBILITY CAMP – CONFIRMED FOR FEBRUARY

While you’re enjoying your summer break, make sure you keep an eye on this meetup list as there’ll be details come across regarding the next WA accessibility camp which will

be happening in February.

AND FINALLY…HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR

On behalf of Ivy who looks after the website, David who books our meeting venue and myself I’d like to sincerely thank you for continuing to be involved in the meetup.    Special

thanks to all our guest speakers who have been willing to support the group through 2016  and to everyone for continuing to make it a fun, friendly and ultimately beneficial experience as we all continue to support the access needs of people with disabilities.

Hope you all have a great break over the summer Christmas and New Year period, keep an eye out on the list for updates and will look forward to catching up again when we next meet  in February.

Scott.
