Theater Works at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts Presents

A New Series of Adult Puppet Shows "After Dark" in the All Puppet Players Production of

The Exorcist Has No Legs!

Peoria, Arizona (October 1, 2013) - Theater Works at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts presents the World Premiere of the All Puppet Players eerie and irreverent adult puppet production of The Exorcist Has No Legs opening October 11, 2013.

Geared primarily towards the adult theatregoer, All Puppet Players will unleash its edgy cast of possessed puppets in conjunction with the 40 Year anniversary of the iconic movie The Exorcist.

"I had been toying with the concept of interpreting an epic motion picture onstage," says Shaun Michael McNamara, Owner and Artistic Director for All Puppet Players.  "It had to be the perfect movie, and it had to be the right time.  Late one night, I popped in The Exorcist and realized that this controversial movie was ripe for puppet-infused parody," continues McNamara.  "For those of you that have been living under a rock, the story line is about the demonic possession of a 12 year old girl and her mother's desperate attempts to win back her child's soul through an exorcism by two Roman Catholic priests."  McNamara claims, "It screams FUN, it is the perfect edgy piece to bring to the stage.  What else could you want from a night out than a gaggle of googly-eyed puppets rotating their heads and spewing pea soup?"

All Puppet Players are a nomadic theatre troupe whose sole purpose is to create quirky and innovative stage shows using puppetry to demolish the "typical" theatre experience and add a bit of anarchy to every stage on which they perform.  The company has garnered numerous awards and recognitions for their productions and live events.

McNamara and his molting, motley crews of "puppets behaving badly" are fresh from their triumphant performances to sell-out crowds in California.

The Exorcist Has No Legs hits the ground running at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts beginning October 10th and continuing through October 25th.  Tickets are $13.00 for general admission and can be purchased by calling the Theater Works Box Office at[masked] or on-line at www.theaterworks.org.  Advance purchase is recommended due to limited seating.

Theater Works, at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts is in its 28th year of providing exceptional theatre to the West Valley.  As a destination, it features more then 200 events a season including: live theatre, classical concerts, jazz, popular music, dance, comedy, cultural events, festivals, youth and adult education classes and much more. Theater Works is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  For more information, call the box office at[masked] or visit www.theaterworks.org

Owner & Artistic Director, All Puppet Players
Shaun Michael McNamara

Owner/Artistic Director Shaun Michael McNamara learned puppetry as a child in Arizona, while enrolled in an After School Program taught by an area music teacher. Seventeen years later, he opened his first critically-acclaimed show, Hamlet Has No Legs, to a sold out run. McNamara invited his Puppet Instructor to come to California to see the opening performance and paid tribute to this Arizona educator by chronicling their reunion in a film highlighting how amazing teachers can impact and inspire their students to success.

The Exorcist Has No Legs has not been without controversy--McNamara has received (celebrated) an actual "Cease and Desist" letter from a guy in California (whom he lovingly refers to as "Tulley McDouchipants"). You can view his manic puppet response here
