EMPLOYEE SHARE SCHEME EXPLAINED - STARTUP VICTORIA
Significant changes have recently been made regarding Employee Share Schemes(ESS). As of the start of July, companies that fall within the eligibility criteria will be able to issue equity to their employees with very few tax implications.

Standard Ledger, PwC and General Standards have put together an evening workshop with Startup Victoria to take you through the new rules, how they will affect you and the best steps to take to get started.

The workshop will cover:

  • An introduction to ESS;
  • An overview of the new tax rules
  • Your business' suitability for ESS
  • Understanding the new ESS documents
  • A step-by-step guide on how to implement an ESS for your company
  • Your questions answered

This event is a great opportunity to determine if ESS is appropriate for your business, its benefits and the best way to get the wheels in motion.

When: 5pm, Thursday the 30th of July
Where: PwC, 2 Southbank Boulevard

STARTUP SCHOOL @ MONASH - STARTUP VICTORIA
Startup Victoria is back at Monash!

After the Guest Lecture with Leni Mayo, Cyan Ta'eed, and Steve Sammartino (check out the pictures HERE) with some inspiring stories about how these successful founders got started, and a Customer Validation workshop with Ivan Lim it is now time to take everything to the next level and focus on how to present yourself and your startup.

Pitching is a critical skill for any founder. It is the way most startups secure their funding and a very effective way in spreading the word and gaining interest in what you are doing.

This workshop consists of two sessions in which we'll teach you the critical components of a successful pitch (content), how to deliver that pitch (delivery), and the second session will consist of a small pitching competition in which you have the opportunity to win some nice prizes!

To ensure that we can make a significant impact on your pitching skills, we have to limit the amount of spots to 10. This means that the application process will be competitive.

Regarding the two sessions, this is what you can expect:

Session 1 - Content & Delivery training

  • 5.00pm - Registration
  • 5.30pm - What does an effective pitch look like?
  • 5.45pm - How do you deliver an effective pitch?
  • 6.00pm - 8.00pm - Pitch practice (10 x 6min pitch with 4min feedback)

Session 2 - Pitch Competition

  • 5.00pm - Registration
  • 5.30pm - 6min pitches for a judging panel consisting of Buzz Palmer, Ros Hore, Nick Rakis & a Melbourne founder
  • 6.30pm - Shortlist 3 finalists
  • 6.45pm - Q&A with finalists
  • 7.15pm - Decision on winner
  • 7.30pm - Prize ceremony + Drinks

To ensure that the sessions will be most valuable for the attendees, we have implemented a selection process. After registering on this page, you'll receive an email with a pitch template. You will be asked to fill out the template with the information of your startup/idea.

Based on those templates we will select the final ten (nascent) Founders/Teams who will go through the sessions.
