Wavefront
and SFU present WaveGuide™ Seminar “Developing Apps for
Symbian”
May
28, 2010 - 8:30–11:30 AM (PST) – Discovery Parks Vancouver, 887
Great Northern Way
Mobile
application developers: Attend this free seminar and learn the basics about
developing apps on the Symbian platform and how to port apps from other
platforms to Symbian (representing over 330 million cell phones, 48% global
market share for smartphones). Also, learn how to leverage the Horizon
Program, an application-publishing platform that allows developers to write an
application once and publish it in dozens of Symbian app stores worldwide.
A
tour of the various runtimes available to the Symbian developer will be
presented along with how to choose the appropriate runtime. Qt provides us with
a compelling application and UI framework for C++ allowing you to write
web-enabled applications once and deploy them across desktop, mobile and
embedded operating systems without rewriting the source code. The Web runtime
is a great way to extend your website onto the mobile. Python is available too
with bindings to phone specific functionality.
Regardless
of your expertise, we promise to share a few tips and tricks that will help you
maximize the platform and develop great apps. And, we'll be giving away free
prizes (handsets, guides) to a few lucky attendees.
