Hello All,

I'm sure you'll find interesting the attached summary of the current rebates and credits for Solar PV installations in MA.

Hope to see you at the Stretch Code Seminar on the 29th.  Please remember to REGISTER for that event on their website, not just on Meetup.

Best regards,
Joshua Dobbelaar

Subject: New Solar Rebate Program is in Effect

Hello QENers ~

This is just a quick note to let you know that the third quarter Commonwealth Solar II rebate grant application window is open. Commonwealth Solar allocates $1 million per quarter for residential and small business solar arrays under 10,000 Watts.

Customers of National Grid are eligible for these rebates.

The rebate amounts are:

Description

Who is Eligible

Grant Amount

Base Rebate

Everyone

$1.00 per Watt

Moderate income/home value Adder

Family household income <$95,400/year or home assessed value  <$400,000 (Middlesex, Norfolk, Essex County)

$1.00 per Watt

Massachusetts Made Equipment Adder

For any project we use a Massachusetts made solar panel or inverter. (Evergreen panels or Solectria inverters)

$0.10 per Watt

The maximum rebate is based on a 5,000-Watt solar array and, depending on your eligibility, is either $5,500 or $10,500. This rebate will cover 15% or 30% of the 5,000-Watt system cost. (and don't forget there is also a 30% Federal tax credit and a $1,000 Massachusetts tax credit.)

A 5,000-Watt system will generate 6,000 kilowatt-hours per year - roughly 50-75% of a typical home's electrical usage. Depending on your electrical rates, 6,000 kilowatt-hours will lower your electric bill by $900 to $1,200 per year.

You'll also be able to generate income by selling your Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs). The SRECs for a 5,000-Watt system are worth AT LEAST $1,500 per year for the next 10 years.

With electricity savings and SREC sales, you can expect a 9-11% annual return on your investment in solar!

Visit the City's new website:  www.energysmartquincy.org  to find out more about solar.
