Over the past year, Rap Genius has been rocking the world of education: witness our recent feature in the New York Times! High school and college students across the country are using our annotation platform not only to discuss the meaning of song lyrics but to read and write about everything from classic literature to scientific research.
The project of changing the way that students read, write, and think in the 21st century is a big one, so we're enlisting the help of itinerant teachers, rogue academics, and digital humanitarians like you! In order to truly save the humanities, we need to build out an education team to take our outreach to the next level and support educators already using the site.
Experience in the world of education, whether high school or college teaching or previous employment in the field of ed tech, is a must. Specific knowledge in the content areas of English (for our Poetry Genius channel) or history (News Genius) is highly desirable.
Send a resume or vita and a cover letter to [address removed], including your most important personal moment of marginalia and a powerful classroom experience you had, either as a student or a teacher. Also please sign up for the site, practice some annotations on a favorite text, and include your username when applying.
