Hoping to get Oscar at the library tonight and at least get most of the way through by Sunday.  I just finished “Never Let Me Go” for my book club at work and I’m interested in seeing what they do with the movie that’s supposed to come out in October.  I think you’d like it!  The writing isn’t totally fabulous and yummy, but the story is good and he keeps you wondering the whole time.

Subject: [bookclub-875] Call for Nominations for New Book Poll

Happy Hump Day my fellow Book Nerdz! I was just sitting her doing the Wednesday paperwork shuffle (a dance of my own invention) to Florence + The Machine when I realized that we need to gather suggestions for our next book poll! Can you believe it’s that time again already? Phew, where has this year gone?

For the new members who have recently RSVP’d to our Little Huddle of Nerdz gathering this Sunday and were not there for the discussion and for us usual suspects who may need refreshed; this poll is going to be a little different than our usual ones.

Earlier this year we discussed the fact that some members expressed interest in reading a longish book that would take longer than a month to digest. It was decided that we would take the months of October and November to read such a book. With that said please do not fear, we are NOT going to skip a meeting, we love gathering and chewing on books together way too much to do such a thing. Instead we will pick a page number midway through the book and will discuss that first half during our October meeting then finish up the book and discuss it as a whole at the November meeting. Sounds like a good time to me. I mean we’ll get to chat about what we’ve read and speculate on what’s to come then see if we are right come November.

So, if there is a book you’ve been dying to chew on but haven’t because of its lengthy number of pages then please nominate if for the poll! Perhaps just such a book is sitting on your shelf right this minute crying out to be nominated! Won’t you help to make its dream of being read and appreciated come true?

I’ll be gathering up the nominations and setting up the poll. Remember, as always we are flexible on the “Literary” but strict on the “Fiction”.

The submission deadline is Tuesday August 17th.

I can not wait to see what goodies you all come up with. I think I’ll go grab me a bag of popcorn and watch the nominations roll in like election night.

Literarily Yours,
Rachel

P.S. I just know that you've finished reading Oscar Wao by now and are itching to get chewing on it with us this Sunday, right?
