In fairness to everyone – we all live and work all over the metro Atlanta area and ultimately choose to spend time and money traveling to those events that are important to us – no matter how far or near. The most equitable arrangement for the organizers is to do what they’ve already proposed - rotate the venue on a meeting-by-meeting basis to different areas of the city. I believe that the most ethical choice for us members is to attend each meeting – even if it’s not located in a location near us THIS month (secure in the knowledge that it will return and give us a travel time/gas break in the future). If we only attend those meetings that are in our mileage-based comfort zone we instantly weaken rather than strengthen the community we are trying to build and ultimately the goals and expectations we joined this group for will not yield the professional relationships and development opportunities we each seek. I urge each of us to attend as many meetings as possible for ourselves and for the good of the group and I personally look forward to meeting everyone.

The only other (and I think lesser) alternative is several simultaneous meetings with a common agenda that are held in different venues scattered around the metro area. But again….there would be designers whom you’d never meet and I believe it would be a lot less fulfilling.

*It may be useful if the organizers could identify groups of designers who live in proximity to one another and determine if there is an interest in ride-sharing.
