Announcing a new Meetup for The Washington, DC/MD/VA Mountain Bike Meetup Group!

What: New England Multi-Level Mountain Biking Trip Oct 7th thru Oct 11th

When: Thursday, October 7,[masked]:00 AM

Price: $175.00 per person

Where: Back Country Excursions
42 Woodward Rd
Parsonsfield, ME 04047
[masked]

There have been numerous folks that liked Cliffs's idea to host in Maine for a multi-day, all-levels event during Foliage time. So, in response, we will be heading-up to Southern Maine to ride with Cliff Krolick and his crew at Back Country Excursions. Fall is a great time to ride and this will be a fun trip whether it's your first time out or your a hard core seasoned vet. Guides and skilled instructors will be available to help you decipher the appropriate trails and the right pace that FITS YOU.

We have the place for a long weekend with three nights accommodations, 2.5 days of riding, food, and guides to meet whatever riding level you are at. Back Country Excursions is in the middle of 8800 acres, with 26 miles of flowing, tight single track, stunt trails and a stunt park. For those into "Apres" riding it's B.Y.O.B.

There are three different types of accommodations: lodge, yurt and camping. There are 12 spots available in Main lodge (first-come, first-serve) and 8 in the yurt. The central lodge will be available to everyone and has plenty of seating, mags, games, videos, a wood fired hot tub and a barbecue for us as well. There are indoor and outdoor showers. Lodge rooms will have comfortable mattresses and bedding but it would be a good idea to bring a pillow and or a sleeping bag if you can manage it. Plan on sharing a space/ room with another member or two, so if you are signing-up as a couple or friends, make sure to specify that when you send in your deposit. The Yurt, which is essentially one large room comes with comfortable mattresses but it's recommended that you bring a sleeping bag.

Back Country Excursions will provide us with 4 meals (breakfast and lunch Fri/Sat). Cliff will also provide endless trail bars and energy snacks everyday. For those interested, Cliff has recommended to go out Friday night for local fresh Maine Lobster, and other platters, at the Lobster Shack that is only ten minute away. Saturday night plan on a big barbecue at the campground/lodge area. Plan on either bringing food or we can make a run to the local small supermarket Friday night. Sunday Am Cliff will provide Coffee but you'll need to provide your own breakfast supplies. We'll do a Sunday AM ride for all that would like and then head back around noontime. If you arrive Friday the 8th you can get the same package till Monday the 11th. Just be sure to mention when you sign up which dates are your preference. The spring water there is excellent for drinking so no need to haul that commodity. Also B.C.E. has a very limited staff and this keeps costs down but they do require our help during meals especially setup and cleanup. So all participants are encouraged to chip in with the meal efforts.

Here's the Deal:
Normally they only offer a 2-day trip but for us they are giving members the option of adding a day for the 2-day rate.

RSVP'ing:
When you RSVP please specify if:
1. Weather you'll be going up Thursday or Friday
2. How many people and/or bikes you can take.
3. Weather you need a ride or not.
4. Weather you want to stay in a Lodge or Yurt, or camping. (Yurt/Lodge = $175; Camping = $160)

$100 Deposit required to reserve a spot.

We need at least 8 deposits sent in by mid September in order to confirm our trip reservation.
Remember it is first come first serve reservation. And in this case First come means first deposits received, not first to RSVP here. As deposits are received confirmation emails will be sent and detailed driving instructions will be sent to all that are driving up.

Deposits can be mailed in personal check or money order to Cliff directly. Drop a note with the deposit mentioning you are with the DC,MD, VA Meetup group for Oct 7-11 trip

Possible refund of all or part is available for cancellations no less then 10-14 days prior to the Meetup Trip date. You can offer your deposit to a late comer if there's any space left and they can pay you back. We will continue to accept reservations up to 1 week prior to meetup if there is still room left.

Some Rental Bikes are available:Full suspension $45/ day, Hard Tails $30/day.

Make sure to check-out their website at www.bikebackcountry.com. If there are any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact Cliff directly at [address removed]. or[masked]

We're attempting to make this simple and easy for everyone. The idea being to have plenty of riding time, great food, and tons of fun with little effort. BackCountry sits in the middle of all the trails.
