INTRODUCTION TO THE EGYPTIAN DANCE CODE?
November 13th, 2010
11:00am - 2:30pm
$40/In advance or $45/At the Door
When: Saturday, November 13th
This introduction to the Egyptian Dance Code? workshop will be an educational pathway into understanding the subtleties and techniques that make up the essence of Egyptian dance. Musicality, movement and the breakdown of upper and lower body movements will be explored and demonstrated using the Egyptian Dance Code? technique. This workshop will include video studies of the ?Golden Age? of Egyptian dancers. Finger cymbal (sagat) rhythms and patterns will also be studied within the framework of the dance (if time allows). This workshop will be full of information, Egyptian dance history and cultural studies.
There will be a lot of time given for discussions, questions and answers.
Workshop includes:
*Physical definition of the Egyptian Dance Code?
*Upper and lower torso dance movement within the Egyptian Dance Code?
*Arm movements within the Egyptian Dance Code?
*Relationship to expression of the Egyptian culture
*Handouts
*Video study and identification of the Egyptian Dance Code? in past and present Egyptian Dancers
*Egyptian lunch available for purchase. ($9/ Each in Advance or $10/ at the door)
