RE: [vocalists-164] October Potluck!

Hey all,
I think Allen had good intentions when writing his email; an appreciated attempt to motivate more members to come out to the meetups.

That said, I think the group is where it needs to be for right now; it's still in the early stages and has a lot of room to grow. I think everyone is still feeling things out (including myself).

I've learned a lot about organizing these meetups; everyone's schedules are different, and not everyone is from Nashville...many live on the outskirts; sometimes 1-2 hours away...a bit of a drive. So, a 100% turnout is never expected. I'm actually content with the turnouts thus far, and actually, the turnout this time matched the RSVP 'Yes' count which was a great accomplishment in itself.

Lastly, I think this group has the potential to be a good networking tool where members can promote themselves and/or their songs and also publicize their gigs. I know if I was playing out somewhere, I would want some members to come out and show their support for me.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next meetup.

Also, don't forget to turn your clocks back tonight.

Roger

Hey Allen,
I can tell you for myself, I am usually @ a gig.  It's not that I don't want to show but I do get booked up rather fast and if I am not playing I am at a practice, writing session or an industry party..........
I do keep hoping that I'll be able to make a meetup.  As for the Christmas party on Dec. 1st I already have a prior commitment at an industry Christmas party......  So before you speak so "honestly" remember there are going to be good and valid reasons that some of us just can't make it out.
Beth

      Hey Roger, (Everyone)
I'm glad to hear some of you had a good time. It still gets me how there are almost 50 members in the group now & only a very small percentage are turning out for the Meetups. I sure hope the majority of members are serious & not just looking for some cheap "Networking" to sell their material or get people to come out to their gigs! Sorry to be so honest, but, you should have a better turn out if most of the members are there in Nashville!

Take Care Everyone!

Allen

Hey all,
The potluck today was great!!! Good food, good company, and great music. The Fab Five has become the Songwriting Six: Tawny, Terry, Tom, Jo, Steve, and myself got together this afternoon at Jo's house to munch and jam (thanks again to Jo, Steve, and Tucker for opening up their home and for their hospitality). We had fried chicken, taquitos, franks, cheese and crackers, and veggies. Unfortunately, I had to leave early so didn't get to taste Tawny's homemade desserts or Steve's Halloween cookies....next time for sure.

Tom started our jam session off with "Psychology Girl" (a cool mix between Radio Head and Brad Paisley).

Tawny blew us all away with her voice..."Rock, man!" was a happenin' little ditty.

Jo, as usual, shined...her song "Fall" was awesome.

And Terry gave us all a taste of Americana...I believe he might have "Picked up the tab for the blues".

If you get a chance, check out some pics from today. Anyway, I hope to see you all around soon.

Have a great rest of the weekend!!

Roger
