Hi Everyone,
I, too, offer  Vegetarian Cooking Classes, using local, seasonal foods. I do them once a month and they are thematic. The next one is The Abundant Harvest.  I advertise in Natural Awakenings Magazine in the calendar section, word of mouth and I send out a monthly news letter. My classes are very sociable, a really good time. If you are interested, please email me directly at [address removed]. Below I have inserted more information.

Thanks!
Allison

Do you love to cook, hate to cook but love to eat, want to eat more mindfully, more healthfully, lighten your environmental footprint, become more balanced?
Whatever your intention or desire is, come, relax, be sociable and enjoy the fruits, grains, vegetables, herbs and spices of my labor.
This year Soup 4 the Soul celebrates its fourth delicious year. Soup 4 the Soul cooking
extravaganzas are thematic, seasonal, and vegetarian using local foods prepared with interesting and fabulous flavors.
What to expect:  current nutritional information
                            a 6 course vegetarian meal
                            recipes
                            and a really good time

When:                 The Abundant Harvest
                           Friday November 5th

                           5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m

Cost:                   $40.00 (come hungry)

Description:

Autumn is the season of gathering nature?s products before winter?s rest. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains are all abundant; for example, citrus fruits, grapes, apples, pears, tomatoes, nuts, sunflower seeds, brown rice, corn, and wheat. Symbolic of the harvest and the holidays of Halloween and Thanksgiving, squashes and pumpkins are both decorative and delicious. In this class learn how to combine the abundant variety of these health producing foods to create simply delicious, no fuss, meals.  Gather yourself up into the festive atmosphere!

Late summer is the beginning of harvest time. Fruits are falling ripe to the ground and the late growing vegetables are big and plump on the vines. We can still eat lightly as we pass through the seasonal transition and savor the last of summer's offerings. In this class, the late vegetables that we anticipate all summer long, will be brought together in an array of vibrant color and fabulous flavor. Come enjoy the well loved bounty of summer prepared in a non-traditional way.

Hi All,

FYI... The Dining Out group had expressed interest in cooking classes last year. I had inquired about Greek Cooking classes at that time and it was not available. Below is information for the classes this year, if anyone is interested and wants to sign up individually.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Best,

Stacey

Subject: Greek Cooking Classes for Fall 2010

The ladies of the Saint Barbara Philoptochos Society are back in the kitchen!!  Weare again pleased to offer Greek Cooking Classes based on the Mediterranean diet.  Your interest in the program last year has encouraged us to continue the offering.  We have some new recipes to tantalize and some old favorites to introduce to a friend.  We also have a new way for you to help spread the word about the healthy, everyday cooking style of the Greek home.

This year there will be three sets of classes.  The first series is planned for Tuesday evenings from 7::00 to 9:00p.m., in October and November:

Tuesday October 26

Moussakas with mashed potatoes (eggplant casserole)

Portokalopita (orange pie with phyllo dough)

Tuesday November 2

Filet of sole with spinach and feta filling

Tyropitakia (cheese pies)

Tuesday November 9

Chicken breast in pita bread with yogurt sauce

Koulourakia (sweet butter twists)

Tuesday November 16

Stifatho (beef with pearl onions in wine sauce), Rice

Apple strudel (the Greek version with crisp phyllo!)

If you missed any of the standards last year, we hope that having them reappear occasionally will help you fill out your repertoire.  If you especially enjoyed the presentation of Moussakas tell a friend or better yet, bring a friend.  In addition, we would like to offer you the opportunity to give the gift of healthy Mediterranean cooking to a sister, a daughter or son, even your husband or a friend. Please inquire about gift certificates.

Space is limited in each class to 16.  Please reserve you place in the class by contacting Olympia Hadjimichael or me:

Oly Hadjimichael: [masked] (daytime)
Jane Hadjimichael: [masked] (evenings)
