I would like to have a Shabbat get together at my house perhaps in December. Any interest?

Thanks, Leah.

Good idea... anyone who wants to help doesn't have to take the burden of full responsibility!

To everyone, just FYI... Leah has moved to the Bronx ? but still is connected to people she met through this group, and she feels the value.

Similarly, you've seen notes from Jonathan Z. He also does not now live in the area but formed meaningful friendships here.

Send me a note, and we can plan something together.

HI everyone,

I'd like to also lend my voice to the call for volunteers to share the organizing of events for the group.

It would be great if not just Jim (or previously Adam) have the responsibility for organizing everything, but that many people could organize events and it is easy to do.

Why not host a meeting for coffee at a local coffee shop? (Look at past events to see that there were several of these over the last years.) All you need to do it schedule a location and time and show up. Or, if you know of an interesting event going on at the Jewish Federation/JCC or local temple, list it here. (There were also several of these during the last year.) What about meeting for services on holidays or Shabbat? Or even for activities such as dinner, a cultural event, leaf viewing, trip to the Berkshires, whatever. Some people might only want to schedule one event a year, some might want to do several a year - that is fine. What is important is that people start getting active within the group, that there is activity and it doesn't all fall on the shoulders of one individual.

So please guys, let's get off our tucheses <  :)  >  and let's get this group going and not let it sink into oblivion. Let's all share in the continuation of this group.  It is really easy to do and if you need help, just ask Jim. He'd be happy to help you and answer any questions.

I really hope some people will contact Jim and that this group has activity again.

Everyone,
I'll second Jim's encouragement of volunteers.  Nice also the Mosaic cross-posting idea.
Still, be not disheartened if events aren't occurring all the time:  Just having this group in place is valuable, so that when ideas arise (& when more people have the time to initiate extra events), we're "here" to hear about them.
(Indeed, just a couple of weeks after we rescued it in early August, my opp'y to be in Troy arose, where I could host some High Holiday & Shabbat meals.  But I didn't even know of that when lobbying for the group's continuation.  Lesson: "You never know.")
We're up to 87 members -- twelve of whom have joined since the group continued!
So, if you hear of something interesting you want to go to (concert, movie, sporting, etc., speech, event at JCC), let us know by posting it with the group!

Friends,
this group, to continue, will need someone to be its leader. I'd do it, but I'm overextended.
A volunteer, please!!
I've invited Ed Bein of Mosaic outdoor group to cross-list his events; we'll still need someone to devise and execute some events.
If you have ideas and want assistance, I will help.
