Fall Foliage Hike in Harriman Park this Saturday!!!

Dear Hiking & Nature Meetup members,
this is a bit short notice, but we're going to do one more hike! This Saturday!
Fall Foliage Hike in Harriman Park
Seems like there are still a lot of leaves on the trees and quite a bit of nice fall colors, so I thought it would be nice to do part of the Seven-Hills trail which has great views over Harriman Park.
The RSVP for this trip is going to be an open one. When it is full, it will be closed, in which case you can still get on the waiting list by RSVPing with No and writing "waiting list" in the textbox.
In order to go on this hike, you need to:
1. RSVP with Yes below by Friday noon AND
2. write in your RSVP whether you are coming by car or train and where you are going to meet the group (NY Penn Station, Secaucus Junction, or Sloatsburg) AND
3. send me (Suzanne) an email with your cell phone number and email address unless I already have it.

Roundtrip ticket for the train is $15.25. This is in addition to the $5 Meetup fee.
THE HIKE
We will hike from Sloatsburg to the Visitor Center in the park. If enough cars happen to be waiting for us in Sloatsburg, we could begin and end the hike at the Reeves Visitor Center or even do a linear hike. I'll decide on the exact hiking route on Saturday morning. But whatever it will be, you can be sure it's going to be beautiful and it's not going to be the easiest hike -- as usual no slow / unfit people please.
TO BRING (AT MINIMUM):
- lunch
- snacks
- 2 Liters of water
- hiking boots or hiking shoes or sneakers, not sandals. Hiking boots, which cover
the ankles, are preferred as they help to prevent ankle injuries.
- hiking socks.
- Rain Poncho
YOU MIGHT ALSO WANT TO BRING:
- hiking map of the area. Download the jpg named "Sloatsburg to Lake Wanoksink" that you will find in the Files section and print it out. (Tip: To print, you might want to insert the jpg into an MS Word document and adjust it to fill the page.)

As of Thursday night: Partly cloudy, high of 44F, but only 10% chance of rain.
WHERE TO MEET
The main meeting spot for people who take the train is in NJ TRANSIT STATION in NY PENN STATION at 8:30 am. The NJ Transit concourse is inside Penn station, on the main level, near the corner of 33rd Street and 7th Avenue. Just follow the signs that say "NJ Transit". The entrance to the NJ Transit concourse with the ticket machines is flanked by a Perfumania shop on one side and a shop called Elegance on the other side. Opposite from the entrance to the NJ Transit concourse is a Tiecoon shop and a PNC bank. We will be meeting in front of the Perfumania shop (attention, there are two Perfumania shops in Penn Station!!!). If you live in NJ, you could also meet us on the platform in Secaucus Junction or at the Sloatsburg train station.
TRANSPORTATION BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
NJ Transit train from Penn Station to Tuxedo. Train departs 9:07 am, then take the 9:31 in Secaucus Junction, arrive 10:17 in Tuxedo. If you come late, you can still catch the 9:11 or 9:14 train to Secaucus and still make it to the 9:31 in Secaucus, but call me on my cell and ask which track it leaves in Secaucus so you can run to that platform without delay. The group is going to take an earlier train back than usual because it gets dark so early. We'll take the 4:23 train back, arriving in Secaucus at 5:29pm, then taking the .....pm in Secaucus which gets us to Penn Station at 5:41pm. Roundtrip ticket is $15.25.
THOSE WHO COME BY CAR
please meet the group at the train station in Sloatsburg. Plan to arrive at 10am. In order to figure out where it is and how you get there, enter "Sloatsburg Station, NY" in
