Hello Margie,
Thank you for your feedback. It is always welcome. I admit the
First Friday Skate can be challenging at first ... but after a few
times it does get easier. So don't give up on it - there is no
where else in South Florida - or even the USA - where half a dozen
police cars stop traffic so that skaters can roll in safety.
I hope I do see you again at the First Friday Skate ...

I think
you might get more people to show up if you open it up
to different skill levels like some of the local bicycle
clubs do. It is hard for people with "regular" skates to
keep up with the group that has more professional type
skates and can go faster. I've already gone a couple of
times and have had to go into the police car once you
are at the back of the pack. It's not worth it for me to
go if that's the policy. I skate around my neighborhood
for two hours straight and enjoy going at a regular
pace.
The
monthly Saturday bike rides offered by Miami Beach cater
to all types of cyclists.
