Aloha Kakou!
Does that little four-stringed temptress hold you in her koa clutches? Do the sweet strains of "Alekoki" make your spirit soar? Do the golden sands of Waikiki tug at your heart? If you answered "yes" to one or more of these questions then you're our newest best friend.
Ukulele Sundays is a group of friendly folks from all walks of life who are united by a common bond. We enjoy ukulele music, hula, Hawai`i, tropical beaches, great food and drink, warm friendships, and sharing these things with others.
We meet at Molly Bloom’s in San Clemente every Sunday, from 5 PM to 7 PM.
If you're already involved in an ukulele group that's great! There are many great Southern California groups. Our goal is to provide a spot where people from different groups can come together, talk-story, share songs and playing tips, and meet fellow uke lovers.
If you’re a beginner - or even if you don’t own an 'ukulele yet - you're more than welcome. This is a geat place to learn. Ukulele players are a generous bunch and we love to welcome and teach newcomers.
You'll see lots of familiar faces at our Ukulele Sundays, including Pat "Palika" Enos. Check-out Pat's website www.patenos.com . Uncle Harry Akioki is another of our guiding lights - as are award-winning steel guitarist Kay Das, Uncle Bobby Tomei, Uncle Roddy, Glenn and Joice, Horacio and many other talented musicians and singers.
So who is the leader of this group? You are! Everyone who wishes to do so will have the chance to lead us in a song or two. That's the whole point. By bringing together people from different clubs and also people who aren't in any club, we'll learn to play new songs and to play familiar songs in different styles and in different keys. It'll be great fun - and we'll all become better, more versatile players.
Sound like fun? Well then, please join-in. E komo mai!
