Hi, Quicker is not always intuitive + heavy reliance on horizontal dropdown menus feeds compulsive clickers and obscures content. Reorganizing the filtering options into a column will direct user focus to the filter results. I know a left column is boring but they are a familiar ui navigation and filtering component.

My thought would be to take a user selectable layered map approach. This might also provide a unique opportunity to see if there are coverage issues in regards to the data.

Joly- You should be able to filter it just to cycling incidents well at least by cyclists injured or cyclists killed. There's no other way to tell from the data if a cyclist was involved in the crash. Constrain matching dates yeah thats tricky what it does is (if you have multiple years selected is throw out any date that isn't in all selected years. So right now if you check off 2013 and 2014 you see all of 2013 and year to date 2014 but if you want to just see 2013 and 2014 for Jan - Jul you check that checkbox and it will slice out all the non matching dates.

In an ideal world, a map interface where a user could select layers for council, board, neighborhood, precinct and zip would probably be the most intuitive. Not sure how easy this is to accomplish though.

Barring that, positioning the menu vertically in a left column, and group the views by borough. Then when a user selects a borough they are shown the menu options for council, board, neighborhood and precinct.

Zip codes would be a separate input field not categorized by borough.

I've been messing around with the motor vehicle collision dataset and I just made live an updated dashboard.

You can filter accidents by contributing factor, injuries or deaths, and do some geographic filtering by police precinct, zip code, neighborhood, and community board. (under map controls)

(This filtering is pretty rough right now it's just returning the accidents that fit in a large bounding box then narrowing them down by what intersects the shape, but this could be incorrect for precincts depending on if the accident falls on the border of two precincts there's no way to tell in the data provided which precinct actually got the call.)

Each accident is clickable and you should see a popup with additional details for the accident.

I'd love to get some feedback from you guys as to how this could be extended even more.
