Hello
I hope you’re having a good month? For those of you who came to the last MeetUp, it was great to see you at yet another packed event!
I’d like to firstly share a little of my own news with you. I’ve just been announced as the Community Manager for Yelp Birmingham It’s a dream gig for me as it means I get paid to connect small businesses with their customers – something I have loved doing for years! - and I get to write a lot more. Yelp is a review site that encourages locals to talk about small independent places that they frequent – coffee shops, restaurants, museums, parks, shops, anything goes! Plus I’ll be running more events to promote small independent businesses in Birmingham. So you will realise why I fought so hard to land this!
To celebrate, I’m having an event on Friday at Urban Coffee Co JQ where I’ll be on hand to give out many freebies and explain how each and every one of you of you can be involved to support Birmingham’s burgeoning indie industry. Please sign up here if you’d like to come http://www.yelp.co.uk/birmingham or just sign up in support – it will take 2 minutes and your profile is advertised on another FREE platform.
And while you’re there, do please do at least one review of your favourite business in the city (obviously not your own!)
Onto other events:
At the same time at Urban, we have this month’s co-working event, Jelly. Bring your laptop, a notebook or whatever you’d like to work on and come and work with helpful, like-minded individuals. We’re there from 9-2 usually. More info here
Next up, on the third Friday of each month (19 Oct) is Likemind, a coffee morning that runs[masked]am in St Paul’s Square. Just bring yourself, grab a coffee (or tea) and chat to start your Friday right! More info here
Finally on the last Friday of the month (26th) there is the Social Media Café. More info here Unfortunately I’ll be away for that and the next Entrepreneurs so hopefully I’ll see you this Friday. There are 673 of you so it will be nice to see a handful of Birmingham Entrepreneurs to introduce to the Jelly regular biz people!
Best Wishes
Rickie Josen
