?Good Eats and Meets? is helping support local Carolina farms, growers, vineyards, breweries, restaurants and businesses by introducing the "Eat Local/Drink Local-Carolina's Farm to Fork Dinner Series". We will begin this series of dinners in the Charlotte area, with our first being at our local crown jewel of slow food dining, Passion8. Please come up for a short trip up 77 to our gem of the Slow Food movement. The idea is simple, Chef Luca and Chef Josh will prepare a meal using ONLY locally sourced items. Produce from local farms, meat from a local grower and the wine and beer will come from a local brewery and winery. The chefs will then use their culinary talents to prepare an amazing meal, using all fresh local ingredients! The meal will be paired with local beer and wine so that the flavors play off each other to tempt, tease, and tantalize our taste-buds.

Passion8 will be serving the BEST local products to feature in the dinner.

They will have Shelly Proffitt from Proffitt Farms to represent the her beautiful grass fed beef at the dinner. She will enlightening us with the whole story; the reason why they are doing things the way they do. This will give everyone a truly unique perspective about their product right from your own backyard.

They will also have representatives from Thomas Creek Brewery and Foothills Brewery discussing their product and how it pairs with the meal.

What is Slow Food?

Slow Food is an idea, a way of thinking as well as living and a way of eating. It is a global, grassroots movement with thousands of members around the world that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment.

Slow Food is an international movement founded by Carlo Petrini in 1986. It strives to preserve traditional and regional cuisine and promotes farming of plants, seeds and livestock characteristics of the local ecosystem. It was the first established part of the broader Slow movement. The movement has since expanded globally to over 100,000 members in 132 countries.

A portion of the proceeds will go to Slow Food Charlotte's School Lunch Program. This is the entire reason for doing a dinner such as this. The entire lunch program in most cities needs a major overhaul...ask you kid what they are eating!

This is our entire reason for what they do at Passion8 Bistro and what Goood Eats & Meets is trying to get across...http://slowfoodcharlo... will give everyone a truly unique perspective about products from our backyards.

***ATTENTION*** The normal cost of the meal is $75 all inclusive, but has been discounted to $65 for Good Eats & Meets members! This is ALL-INCLUSIVE! So, come out for a night of incredible food and see what The Eat Local/Drink Local Dinner Series is all about!

The owners of Passion8 have asked for ALL people attending the dinner to give them a call to hold your spot and to put a credit card(it will not be charged until the night of the event) number down. They need to have an EXACT head count and purchase all of our LOCAL goodies. Those of you that are no shows or late cancellations, there will be a $32.50 charge apllied to your card, so make sure you are coming. So, call them at (803)[masked]...

We WILL be hosting events in the Columbia area once all the pieces are in place...

We will also be planning farm tours, picnics and dinners on the farm...stay tuned!
