I checked with SCDOT and Charleston about sign placement a while ago and probably should have sent this information out--my bad.  SCDOT said that signs in public right-of-way areas are prohibited on state roads, but not necessarily on local roads, and Charleston County said they have no problem with any signs on their roads provided they don't block visibility and what-not.  The City of Charleston has an ordinance against signs on roads maintained by the city, although I suspect it isn't really enforced all that strongly since the Dem's have had plenty of signs on city roads.  I emailed North Charleston to see if they had a similar ordinance, but they never got back to me--I couldn't find such an ordinance on their website either.  If anyone knows more I'd be happy to learn.  Thanks!

We had great visibility with their location for the time they were up, probably a month for the two oldest, on embankments of 526 at Dorchester and West Montague. 7 are still up at various locations. I talked on the phone with the man who picked them up and he was very friendly. I said I had some big Libertarian signs up and they were gone. I had a feeling that was going to be the case.  The Party gets letters from different governmental bodies (State, Counties and Cities) every election cycle reminding us not to put signs on public property and easements.

However, they will leave them alone if the signs are place on private property with owners' permission.
