As far as I can tell, the "innovation" is almost purely 
monetization/marketi­ng focused, which is fine (if it can bring the 
service to a wider audience) but I'm not sure what it brings to "users" 
except as an easier way to get advertised to versus other methods of 
communicating with other users.

Of course, it's likely another media model, where the technology is 
secondary to the audience building powers.
