WHAT is Urban Permaculture Accelerated Training?
PERMACULTURE is a design practice for creating human communities that are more ecological, economical and enjoyable. Visible Systems such as food, water, energy, waste streams and shelter are supported by Invisible structures such as laws, health, education, purpose and spirit in this whole systems design process.

The core material of this course is geared specifically to New York residents to help prepare us for the rapid transitions we are making as a culture:

Deeper understanding of social justice issues involving race, gender and income
Local Food and Food Shelter development
Responding to Climate Change
Finding Right Livelihood
Traditional Medicine
Reduction of Waste
Increasing Economic Yields

An Additional Ten Hours of Field Practice are Required to earn the UPAT certificate. Enjoy our beautiful gardens at the historic Old Stone House in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Learn why compost is essential to every healthy garden. Learn about plants and connect to the seasonal cycles. Participate in a publicly designed commons. Learn to identify plants and their uses.  Gain hands-on skills training.
