*** FLORIDA UPDATE AND ACTION ALERT! ***

ATTENDANCE NEEDED IN TALLAHASSEE
AT THIS MONDAY’S ALAC HEARING!

by Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government Relations

Dear Karyn,

Thanks to your continued help and outreach, American Laws for American Courts legislation continues to make its way through the Florida legislature. Each day we get closer to seeing ALAC finally become law in Florida.

As a reminder, Florida ALAC is a common-sense legislative proposal that protects Floridians’ individual constitutional rights from foreign laws or legal doctrines where the application of those laws/doctrines would violate those constitutional rights. No particular foreign law is singled out.

This Monday, April 8th, there will be a hearing on SB58 in the Senate Committee on Children, Families & Elder Affairs. We need as many people as possible to attend this hearing and to waive testimony in favor of the bill. What this means, is that we don’t need anyone to speak about the bill at Monday’s hearing, just to stand up and say “I waive testimony in support of SB58.”

** IMPORTANT ACTION ITEM **

If at all possible, PLEASE attend Monday’s hearing in the Senate Children, Families & Elder Affairs Committee. Further, bring as many people as you can with you. We need to fill the room and be respectful and professional at all times!

If you can’t attend on Monday, please forward this request to as many people as you know who might be able to do so.

Specifics are as follows:

Date: Monday, April 8, 2013 Time: 4:00 p.m. EDT Place: Senate Office Building, Room 37 (Mallory Horne Room)
Tallahassee, Florida

As always, thank you for all of your efforts. You ARE making a difference!

REMEMBER, YOUR VOICE COUNTS!
IF EACH OF US DOES JUST A LITTLE, TOGETHER WE CAN
ACCOMPLISH A LOT!
