Dear
Rachel,
I am in an unfortunate situation in which I need to find a
new,
loving home for my dachshund, Emma. My mother is in
homebound
hospice and I moved in to take care of her. She says that
she
doesn't want Emma -- I don't know exactly why--allergies? But,
I
have to care for my mother until she is gone; which Im told
could take up
to a year, but not much more than that. Very hard
thing to do.
Am
I allowed to post her for adoption on your web site? I
already
contacted the Dachsund Rescue group and they said they
couldn't take her.
I've even contacted the Chihuahua and Small
Dog Rescue Group, but they
are overloaded with too many dogs
right now.
I have a few really
cool pictures of her. She is the only
dachsund in the world like her, she
is dapple (rare), she is a
mini, and most unique of all are her
mis-shaped ears.
I recently had her senior bloodwork done, teeth,
nails, "oil
change", parvo (already has Rabies). I spent $160 on her
to
make sure she is well. She has an enlarged heart for which
she
takes medication ($11 per month at Broadview Veterinarian).
She
gets real playful when she's on her medication.
She was an
abused rescue and has come a long way since I've had
her (around 3 yrs I
think), though she still jumps when things
around her move suddenly. I
have worked hard to teach her that
hands are made for loving and she has
grown very accustomed to
that. Her little eyes don't blink quickly and
she usually
doesn't hunch down as if getting prepared for a beating.
She
will probably always be a little frightened, but I believe she
has
room to grow in trust with kind hands, a soft voice, and a
loving
heart.
She needs a home where someone is with her at all times.
She
freaks out when she's alone and cries. So, another dachsund
would
be great (she grew up with two other dachs), or someone
kind she can sit
next to and have around all day.
Please help me. I don't want to post
her randomly on Craigslist
because you don't know what you get. The
Rescue groups don't
have room. I WILL NOT TAKE HER BACK TO A
SHELTER!!!!!!
Thank you so much for your careful
consideration,
Polly Snell
