Re: [downtowndenverdachshunds] Help find Emma a home! A beautiful dapple dachshund

Hi All,
Just to give you an update on what is going on with rescue. Normally we
get calls to help 2-3 dachshunds a week, but for the last year we are have
been getting calls to help 2-3 dachshunds a day. Yes a day! We are
overwhelmed, overworked and getting tired, and broke. We almost always
have about 40 Dachshunds in the rescue program at all times. We need
help, we need money! Currently our food bill alone runs $300-$400 a
month, and the shelter lease is $800 a month, we also spend $15 to 20K a
year on medical care.
So with that being said, I don't recall getting a call on Emma, if I did,
I would of offered to post her on our website as an owner adoption. And I
will do that tonite. But we are not the only Dachshund Rescue in
Colorado, so perhaps one the other groups was contacted? But Emma is going
to be hard to place, with her medical condition, most people will only
adopt a healthy dog. And if Emma goes to the shelter she will get
euthanized before her owner leaves the parking lot, just because of her
medical condition, she is not adoptable.

So I will get her up on our website, and if someone wants to foster, we
can take her in. But it will be a long term foster, perhaps 3-6 months or
longer.

So please go to our website www.Coloradodachshundrescue.org, check out
the upcoming fundraiser with the Colorado Avalanche, March 6th under the
events tab, fill out the "adoption" application to be a foster home, make
a regular monthly donation...even $20 helps...and help us save these
Dachshunds! We can not do it alone, we need the Dachshund Community to
help!

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart
with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece
of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will
be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."
