Last Thursday we talked about part of chapter 6 of Seth Speaks, in which Seth described what the "soul" really is, and how the ego relates to it. The ego usually ignores the soul, and this limits our quality of life. Seth tells us the importance of accessing the soul's messages through our "inner self".
He says: "One prerequisite for such an intuitive understanding of the soul is the desire to achieve it. If the desire is strong enough, then you will be automatically led to experiences that will result in vivid, unmistakable subjective knowledge. There are methods that will enable you to do this, and I will give you some toward the end of this book." Also: "Psychologists use the terms 'ego,' 'subconscious,' and even 'unconscious.' What seems subconscious in one instant may be conscious the next. An unconscious motive may also be conscious at one point. Even in these terms your experience should tell you that the words themselves make divisions that do not exist in your own experience. You seem to perceive exclusively through your physical senses, and yet you have only to extend your egotistical idea of reality, and you will find even your egotistical self accepting quite readily the existence of nonphysical information. As it does, so its own ideas of its own nature will automatically change and expand, for you will have removed limitations to its growth."
The conversation was so compelling that some of us stayed to talk late into the night. Stories of personal experiences drive the discussion and open our own paths to the "inner self."
Did you read Jane Roberts' Seth Speaks or The Nature of Personal Reality and love it? I did too. I loved the people in our Seth readers' group in Portland, and when I moved away I missed them so much that I decided to form a new one here in Lakeway near Austin. I know there were many people associated with Dr. Maude Cardwell's Austin Seth Center at one time, and I would like to find you!
The Seth Material adds a fascinating dimension to understanding our physical and non-physical reality. Seth says “Consciousness creates form. It is not the other way around. It is only because you are so busily concerned with daily matters that you do not realize that there is a portion of you who knows that its own powers are far superior to those shown by the ordinary self.” - Seth Speaks (Session 511, January 21, 1970)
The two Seth Readers meetups each month are for those who have already read some Seth books. If you haven't read any of Seth and Jane Roberts' books yet, please read a couple of them before attending. Seth is not easy to explain, and reading the books is the best way to get acquainted with the basics of his ideas.
If you haven't yet read at least a couple of the Jane Roberts Seth books, then you are invited to the monthly group called "Intro to Seth." There we are working on Seth's first (and some say most important) book, "Seth Speaks."
Previous Seth readers are invited to the meetup on the second Thursday. There is no charge. Please bring your copy of The Nature of Personal Reality, if you have one. Answer the questions here, and I'll invite you to the meeting location.
I have posted some files full of excellent Seth quotes on various topics and also summaries of all of Jane's books. To see them click on the "More" tab at the top of this page, then click on "Files".
