The Austin Vegan Association (AVA) is Austin’s longest-running plant-based community, proudly serving as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 1997. Founded as the Vegetarian Network of Austin, later known as the Austin Vegan & Vegetarian Association, today our mission is to make vegan living more accessible through social gatherings, educational events, and support for local vegan-friendly businesses.
AVA is open to anyone interested in compassionate, sustainable lifestyles.

🍛 Wednesday Indian Dinner at Honest 🍛
Honest, 2601 South Interstate 35 Suite B100, Round Rock, TX, USJoin us Wednesday, July 22 at Honest for a flavorful dive into Indian vegetarian cuisine, with plenty of vegan options to explore!
Honest is a family-rooted restaurant with a story stretching back to a street cart in Ahmedabad, India in 1975, and has since expanded to Thailand, Australia, Canada, and now the US. Curated by internationally renowned chef Mr. Vijay Gupta, Honest brings the vibrant, diverse flavors of Indian street food to Round Rock, with a contemporary ambiance and a menu made entirely from scratch daily using fresh, high-quality ingredients, no frozen or processed products.
Their menu spans the breadth of Indian cuisine: street food snacks, South Indian specialties, North Indian comfort dishes, and spicy Indo-Chinese, all vegetarian, with vegan options available. If you love bold, layered flavors and love to explore, come ready to order widely!

Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX, USJoin the Austin Vegan Association on July 25 for a flavorful cooking demo featuring a vibrant lineup of summer vegan Mexican dishes prepared by Chef Dora Ramírez — fresh off winning the 2026 James Beard Award in Vegetable-Focused Cooking for her cookbook Comida Casera: More Than 100 Vegan Recipes, from Traditional to Modern Mexican Dishes!

Chef Dora Ramírez is the chef, recipe developer, and photographer behind Dora's Table, a beloved bilingual vegan Mexican recipe blog. Born and raised in Mexico and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, she adopted a plant-based diet to take control of her health and has been passionate about sharing the benefits of vegan cooking ever since. She is the author of Comida Casera (2026 James Beard Award winner) and Vegan Tamales Unwrapped, a contributor to Dr. Neal Barnard's The Vegan Starter Kit, and has been featured in VegNews, Women's Health, BuzzFeed, and more.
