Hi Wally,

The Chamber of Commerce Meeting room costs $300 for non-members to rent, so that's not an option, but thanks for the suggestion.

Good to hear from you again.  I look forward to your meeting.

I know there is a Toastmasters group that meets in the chamber of commerce on a Saturday though.
Might they be an option?
Other than that, I know nothing much of Chapel Hill, so I cannot help any more with locations.

All the best wal

Hi everyone:

Hope you are all doing well and that the holidays were joyful for those of you who celebrate.

I wanted to let everyone know that I will be scheduling the next meetup shortly. It will most likely take place within the next 10 days or so. I'm currently in Boston visiting family for a late post-holiday visit, but when I get back on Thursday, I'll be working with some folks at UNC to find a space for the next meetup.

I announced on the list that my position at UNC was eliminated in December. That's kind of thrown a hiccup in meeting, because I'm no longer connected to the J-School. Although some professors are interested in sponsoring the next meetup. We're discussing. It could be at SILS or it could be in the J-School.

I've been looking around for other spaces and there really isn't much out there. Since the library moved to the mall temporarily, they don't have a meeting space. I think there is a meeting space in Durham at American Tobacco, but then that wouldn't really be WordPress Chapel Hill, now would it?

If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

A few topics we should cover are custom post types, custom post taxonomies, and custom formats--something I wanted to cover last month, but could not schedule. But, I also want to give everyone a rundown on "responsive design," which is something I've been learning about.

Take a look for yourself by dragging the right corner of your web browser in to the left using the example WordPress default Twenty-Eleven theme at: http://twentyelevendemo.wordpress.com/. When you drag, you will see the images re-size and the navigation fold so it stacks instead of horizontal. All sidebars collapse under the main content.

There are a number of theme shops starting to build responsive design themes. I think this method of developing sites for cross-platform compliance is a really neat idea. We'll discuss.

Any questions, let me know.
