New Meetup: Moveable Sustainable Feast - 2 dates: 12/01 & 12/14

From: Christybgi
Sent on: Wednesday, November 24, 2010, 7:07 AM
Announcing a new Meetup for Seattle Renewable Energy Meetup Group!

What: Moveable Sustainable Feast - 2 dates: 12/01 & 12/14

When: Wednesday, December 1,[masked]:00 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

December's party time - right? Time to get out and visit the neighbors! With that in mind, there are two great events in December that, frankly, I don't want to compete with. So instead of creating yet another event to pile into the already busy calendar, how about if we simplify things a bit? Slow it down? Visit our neighbors. Practice sustainability.

Here's the plan of moving us, Seattle Renewables, to two great educational and networking events for renewable energy advocates in the Seattle area. We'll show up at REI 12/1 and two weeks later, also show up in Shoreline 12/14. We'll see you there! Details here:

12/01/10
Who? Solar Washington http://www.solarwashington.org/meetings/index.html
When? Wednesday December 1, 2010 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
What? Solar Hot Water Systems
Where? REI in Seattle, 222 Yale Ave N., Seattle, WA,

A panel presentation and discussion will cover the history of SHW, how it works, and how effective it is for radiant and space heating versus Solar Electric. Attendees will leave with a basic understanding of the different SHW technologies, as well as how to calculate the energy a SHW system can produce and the system payback period.

12/14/10
Who: Shoreline Solar Project http://www.shorelinesolar.org/
What: Celebrate a Green Holiday with Shoreline's Environmental Community! Meet & Greet for our local environmental organizations
When: Tuesday, December 14,[masked]:30p - 8p
Where: Lake Forest Park Montessori, Gymnasium,[masked]th Ave NE, Shoreline, WA 98155

Shoreline Solar Project invites all sustainable & environmental groups to a meet & greet. This will be an opportunity for leaders, group members and other like-minded neighbors to meet and discover opportunities for environmental collaboration in Shoreline.

-Organizations are encouraged to invite their members, supporters, etc.
- Parking: additional parking is at Shoreline Bank.
- Each group can bring materials for display and have 2-5 minutes for show & tell.
- Bring dish appetizers or desserts to share if you can. Recyclable cups, plates, utensils and cider will be provided.

Everyone who comes to the party may enter a drawing to win a free booth for their organization at 2011 SolarFest, July 16. (Thumbs up on this idea! says your SREM Organizer!)

RSVP for planning purposes: [address removed]

Happy Holidays!
