Subject: Monday, January 21st 9am to Noon- MLK Day of Service
at Pope Branch Park, Fairlawn Ave and M Street SE Washington DC
(shuttle from Potomac Ave Metro - Blue/Orange  about a mile from the site)

So what are you doing on this January 21st?  [MLK Day of Service - A Day On]

Are you aware that the 21st is also the traditional observation of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of National Service, and it's an opportunity to "make a difference" in our city,

The DC Sierra Club will be co-hosting with the Pope Branch Park Restoration Alliance, the 7th Annual Clean-Up of Pope Branch Park, this coming Monday, from 9:00 am to Noon.  We will gather beginning at 8:30 am at the junction of Fairlawn Avenue and M Place, SE.  We hope you can be with us for whatever time you can (come out for couple of hours and still see the President sworn in https://mail.google.com/mail/e/330).

We will be picking up trash and debris from around the park, along Pope Branch Creek and some of the adjacent neighborhood streets.  In doing so, we not only clean up and beautify the park but also help to restore the Anacostia River by removing debris that might enter it through the creek.  Over the years we have seen a marked improvement in the cleanliness of the park and that can be attributed to our collective care and efforts of this type.  Remember that YOU can make a difference.

Tools, work gloves, hot coffee and donuts will be provided.

So come and join us next Monday; it’s a day on, not a day off!

Please see the attached flier (pass it along) and/or contact me directly for more information.

I look forward to seeing you.

Cordially,

Irv
