Subject: [movies-320] Intouchables replaces Polisse

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying the nice weather.  Had a chance to see Wings and First Position this past week.  Wings is much better than I thought it would be.  Never expected to see a scene with two men embracing each other!  It really is a masterpiece.  First Position was exactly what you would expect, a well-told story about students trying out for ballet.

THE INTOUCHABLES

We were supposed to see Polisse, but as often happens, the movie is here one week and leaves.  There were a few other movies I wanted to see but Intouchables caught my attention.  While the story line is fairly predictable: black guy takes care of old rich gentlemen and they learn things from one another and become good friends, a number of reviewers commented that it had a lot of heart and there is enough depth to the story that really makes it worthwhile.  I will hope you will be able to attend.   It shows Wednesday June 13 at the Cedar Lee.

HIPSTERS

Many of you have been asking about seeing this film.  Even if you have been locked out of the movie event, you certainly can still go see it at the Cinematheque.  It would be great if someone else stepped up to organize an additional event.  I have seen the film and liked it very much.  If you throw away any pre-conceived notion of what a Russian film should be, this should encourage you even to attend more.   It is very creative.

NEED A FEW MORE FILMS ON THE SCHEDULE

While I appreciate all the people who help organize events, we are always looking for others to schedule an event.  It is really quite easy and you get to pick the movie, time, place and eats place too.  If you would like to help out, please let me know.    Do you have a particular movie you are interested in seeing?  That is a good start.

DUES REMINDER

If you have already paid, thank you very much and no need to look further.

Otherwise, your dues of $5.00 are very important in  order for us to host directors coming into town and pay for the website.  Please select the link or pay your organizer AT THE NEXT GROUP EVENT if you haven't already.

Jim
