It's getting warmer and flowers are blossoming. It is spring!

to let us know All the living creature are survived from long severe harsh winter and show their beautiful existence of colors and shapes off~!

and there is another wonderful thing happening in this calm Jindo island,sea-parting to another island~!

Jindo is the 3rd largest island in Korea and is connected from the peninsula by a bridge. It's quite convenient to commute to this island by bus. It has 230 more small islands around it with beautiful scenaries and part of Hallyeo maritime national park. Also, well-known for the Jindo dogs, Korean national symbol besides Arirang sing and dance,home of Korean painting of nature.

The parting of the sea allowes visitors to walk through the sea from mainland to other island. This phenomenon is caused due to the difference in high tides and low tides, which creates a 2.8-kilometer-long road measuring 40 to 60 meters in width. The Jindo Sea-parting Festival takes place at the same time as this phenomenon once a year. Visitors can enjoy walking along the sea road, gathering abalone and various other fun activities that make up the festival program. The spectacular sight of the waves parting is widely known and many people travel to Korea from all over the world just to witness this amazing event ~! This is reported by French ambassador Pierre Landy in 1975, who wanted to research the Jindo Aririang. There is a small park with his statue.

So,there are some must-go places only you can see in Jindo island~!

we go all the way down to the island and how about to check out those places to enjoy the most of the parts.

The itinerary:

Day 1: go straight to the main festival area and enjoy the festival . BBQ party at the beach~! and OPTIONAL: pitch tent to stay near beach(let me know in advanced ,so we can prepare all the mats ,sleeping bags & tents etc)!

most of us will stay in accommodation (Minbak style)

Day 2: Two options:

1. stay on the beach to chill and keep yourself entertained

OR

2. visit the Unlimsanbang atelier Museum and Hike up the mountain

♣ Things that you can only experience in Jindo:

[♣ Jindo Arirang]

Jindo arirang is the one of the 3 well-known arirang in Korea and finally is registered as an UNESCO world heritage because it has unique way of dancing and singing and many variations of the song exist.

There will be performance at the festival and you can take part in dancing together! It's very easy to dance around together~!

[♣ Hongju,Jindo]

Jindo Hongju "red liquor" is used to be the strongest alcohol in Korea. Now they are moderate it to 40% (like most of whiskey) Don't miss the chance to taste it for free during the festival !

[♣ Jindo dog]

There are 2 typical dogs well-known in Korea.One is Jindo dog, mostly white, brown, fast,furious but very royal, well-tamed to host. It is Natural Monument No53. another is Sapsalge,Natual Monument No368 is big,hairy almost cover the eyes.it is almost extinct and very rare after korean war.

[♣ Unlimsanbang] National Scenic Beauty No80

this is a most well-known for the late of Joseon Dynasty,

painter Heo-yu, unique way of korean painting of nature,

and unique artelier that all of his family for 3 generations more develop the

way of painting. the artelier is really unique and beautiful and

there is a museum you can look around. don't miss to visit!

[♣ Hiking] Natural Monument No107 Forest

The mountain "Cheom-chal san(486meter)" behind the Unlimsanbang is the highest mountain in Jindo

• it has gorgeous SSang-gye sa temple which is 1,500 year history

• very southern atmosphere forest,[Natural Monument No107] which is very rare that the all the valley and forest are designated as a natural monument in Korea.

• command a great view of all the Jindo island and of ocean.

It takes only approx. 2 hours to hike to the top, but it will treat you with the great view. Anyone can walk until they reach the temple and spring in valley. You can always go at your own pace!

• There will be a sunrisie hike at the beach in the morning at 5AM. There will be stunning view of of the sunrise on the ocean with the scenery of islands!

[♣ accommodation] Minbak OR tent

as the Jindo is kind of an island, it's still is not fully developed to cater to tourists.

There aren't many pensions (viilla style) or motels. As a result,

we will stay at the Minbak (stay at a local style house) It's right next to beach and festival area. This will be really good chance to experience Korea.

Some rooms have an indoor/outdoor shower, and TV (not all rooms!) . But, that shouldn't matter, because you have the beach!

We have tents to set up so you can camp on the beach!

Typically, April is very warm (depending on the wind). If you think this is something you're interested in experiencing, then you should camp on the beach!

[♣ Meal Plan]

-festival entrance ticket is 5,000won, but you can use that ticket as a voucher at the festival.

There will be food stands at the festiva that you can use your voucher as cash.

Dinner is OPTIONAL: we will prepare BBQ on the beach.

if you think the food stand is not enough ,you can chip in.

and also we prepare breakfast. We should prepare breakfast because there isn't much offered at the festival during this time of the day.

[DINNER]we will provided ingredients to make cheeseburgers:

• cheese,beef patty, bread,vegetables,sauces

and there will be some speakers for music :)

we must prepare our own breakfast. Seoul Hiking Group will provide ingredients. Included; roast bacon ,eggs,potatoes!

Walk across the ocean with the torch that the festival provides!

OPTIONAL: sunrise hike for 1 hour. Arrive to the top at 5:30AM to catch the sunrise at 5:50AM

SUNRISE from ocean would be stunning!

[8:00AM] Breakfast

• sandwich,banana,peanut butter

• there will be food stand and you can make it on your own.

• make your own coffee

[11AM] check out & Departure for Seoul

Bus departs for tour(you just can stay at the beach. There aren't many things going on during Sunday)

Get back to Seoul at approx. 4pm (Depending on traffic)

[3PM] Departs for Seoul

• there (might) be two separate buses, and one bus will leave at 3:00PM

-Arrive back to Seoul at approx. 8pm (depending on traffic)
