Whether you are looking to get into leadership or just starting out, this panel will cover what skills you will need for your phase of your career.

Meet our Panelists:

>> Lucy Bain: Team Lead at Atlassian

Lucy went to uni in the states. After graduating she moved across the country to work in Silicon Valley, ending up at Avos Systems, Inc. where she learned Ruby on Rails. She transferred to the New Zealand office for a few months and then made the hop over to Sydney. When she arrived she first worked for Split It Pty, Ltd continuing to hone her Rails skills, as well as picking up MongoDB and learning some front end. After that she's moved on to being a front end developer at Atlassian, working on the Bitbucket Server team. Since then she transitioned to being a team lead at Atlassian, and recently moved to join the Editor team. She has helped organise the Women Who Code Sydney group, the local chapter of Rails Girls, and Girl Geek Dinners, and has run a few programming related study groups.

An indie game developer, a regular speaker at various technological conferences, including Web Direction Code Leaders and DDD. Finalist of YOW! Women in Tech Competition 2017. Automation Chapter Lead at Immutable - Sydney-based blockchain gaming company.

Ima has over 15 years of experience working in tech as an engineer and lead. Ima is primarily specialised in Cloud and Data. When Ima is not working, she enjoys playing with her daughter. Her favorite hobbies are running, swimming and oil painting.

>> Chloe Yuan: Data Scientist at SafetyCulture

Chloe is a Data Scientist in SafetyCulture who works on a wide range of tasks from data exploratory analysis to productionizing ML features. She has a master degree in Data Science from University of Sydney and prior to joining SafetyCulture, Chloe spent 2 years in a data consulting company where she had developed her knowledge and skills in computer vision and had also gained hands-on experience in data engineering and devOps from working on the development of a computer-vision based video analytics platform. In her spare time, Chloe enjoys playing badminton, hunting for best coffees in town or just chilling on the sofa with a good movie on!

>> Samantha (Samme) Ki: Software Engineer at Lendi

Samme is a career changer with a creative writing degree who pivoted into software engineering through General Assembly. In her past life she was a digital marketer who was curious about why certain quotes for web projects cost more than others, and enjoyed learning why from her extremely patient digital agency developers. Fast forward to the present, she is currently working at Lendi enjoying the challenges of event driven architecture and studying for her AWS certifications. Previously she co-founded the junior track at DDD Sydney, and is passionate about diversity in technology - co-founding the Women in Tech working group at her company. Currently you'll find her attempting home renovations and trying to keep her plant babies alive.

The panel will be hosted by Claire Tran, an organiser for WomenWhoCode in Sydney.
