Have you identified the anticipated caches yet?  I would like to research and set up my GPS for next Saturday.

Welcome all Geocachers (unexperienced and pros).

Mark your calendars for the next cache-a-thon. I've picked Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve. More details forthcoming!

A few changes will be put into action to allow everyone a chance to locate a cache. We're going to draw numbers that will be assigned to each cache, the person who has that number gets the first opportunity to arrive at the location and two minutes to find the cache. After two minutes others are allowed to search. If we have more people than caches, then we will double up per each cache.

Initial research shows that we could go as much as 10 miles RT, but I'm going to cap it around 6 - 7 miles. We will be stopping for a lunch break at mile 3ish, depending on the cache that's in the area. This is considered a "hike" and you will need to bring lunch, water (2Liters min), hats, sunscreen and comfortable hiking boots or shoes. There will not be any facilities or places to purchase food and drink. Also this area is known for poison oak, so if you're highly allergic, please use caution and stick to the trails.

Please if you are a cache hound are want to find every single cache, please do not come to this event. It is intended for new members or rookie cachers to show them how fun it is to find their own first cache - this includes honing in on the location, not just looking around an area someone else has identified.

I will not include puzzle caches (unless they can be easily solved), multi-caches or virtual caches this time.

Hope you can make it to this event!
