I think we need to separate moral/ethics from being atheist/theist.
 
Some atheists are probably very moral and ethical.  Some are not.
 
Some theists are very moral and ethical. Some are not.
 
I do not think being atheist or theis determintes your morality and ethics.  They usually have nothing to do with each other.

Like charlotte said, Atheism is simply the lack of belief in a supernatural being(s); it is not an ethical or benevolent philosophy. There could literally be atheist terrorists.

Well, I doubt anyone "in transition" would say that Atheism equates terrorism... But okay.

atheist (n)
one who denies the existence of God
