Hey Hikers!
We're bringing back one of our favorite summer traditions... Running of the Bulls New Orleans! 🐂🎉
The event kicks off around 7:30AM and the bulls are typically released by 8:00 AM at Gallier Hall. I'll plan to arrive around 7:00-7:15 AM so we have time to gather before everything gets underway. I'll post my live location that morning to make it easier for everyone to find the group, we usually gather directly across the st from gallier hall in Lafayette Square.
If you've never been, this isn't quite what you might be picturing from Spain. New Orleans puts its own hilarious spin on the tradition. The event is roughly a 2-mile "run," though let's be honest... it's much more of a leisurely stroll since most participants have a drink in hand.
The festivities begin with the traditional blessing of the runners before everyone heads out just before 7am.
After the route wraps up, the party continues back at the festival with live music, food, drinks, and plenty of entertainment. It's one of the most unique New Orleans events of the year, and by 10:00 AM you'll probably feel like you've packed an entire day's worth of fun into your morning!
The traditional attire is a white shirt and white pants (or shorts) with a red sash or scarf, so feel free to join in the spirit.
Tickets are required and are typically around $40 after taxes and fees for general admission. VIP options are also available if you'd like to keep the celebration going afterward.
One quick note: I do have another commitment that afternoon that I can't get out of, so I'll likely only be hanging around until about noon before I have to head out.
