I really don't know what the big deal is. I think its great that Google posted a pic of the Dog Whisperer on their home page.

Maybe it should be like this. On any holiday in the USA on which one might not be surprised to be asked to pay three times the price of the normal menu in a restaurant for a meal, that on THAT day Google should at least acknowledge our holiday by making a themed doodle that is not celebrating an obscure person place or thing. Congress isn't doing anything. Make it a law.The Defense of American Holidays Act.

Anita, I just can't buy that analysis. Why on earth did you and all the other people who were complaining today expect an easter doodle in the first place? There hasn't been one in almost 13 years. Out of curiosity, I searched through Google's entire collection of doodles and the only easter doodle that was ever done was on April 23rd of 2000. Yes, almost 13 years ago.

You can search for yourself here and please correct me if I'm wrong:

To update your analogy, it would be like having a good friend who gave you a birthday gift, once, 13 years ago. Why would you ever expect another gift?

The point is Google disappointed quite a few people. One of Google's trademarks that we have been accustomed to is the Doodles. We find them fun, informative and revelant to the majority of us. Google may not celebrate all the holidays, etc. but we expected an Easter Doodle and we didn't get it. That's all. I equate Google's decision to not having a Easter Doodle to that of a friend who after 20 years forgets your birthday. You are like, what? Was not expecting that. How could my best friend of 20 years forget my birthday? Anyway, like most things we will get over this, but for others they may not.

Agreed...and it always seems to me these pleas for recognition from a position of privilege are particularly pathetic.

Anyone who is offended that Google did not "doodle" Easter should realize that Google does not "doodle' every religious holiday for every religion in the world. If they celebrated Easter, then they would have to do something for everyone else on every other day. The doodle wouldn't make sense to 99% of Googlers.

Better to not get into religion and faith than jump headfirst into a world where everyone thinks their faith is the right faith to believe in. If you can't see how smart a move it was to stay away from religion, because it would have caused an uproar with other faiths, then you'll never run a multinational search engine that generates billions of dollars in revenue.

As a Catholic, I certainly appreciate Easter, but I don't need my search engine to celebrate it for me. Why not get mad a Bing for not even bringing it up? Heck, let's start showing up with torches at the offices of every search engine demanding they respect our religion. Oh, right. I forgot, this is a free country where you can choose to believe what you want to believe, that is until religion tells you you have to adhere to their teaching. But remember, it's a free country.

Also, you've got a Christian Easter holiday that leaves out the gay population. So, you're going to celebrate Easter, but only for practicing Christians and then gays who use Google have to be reminded that they're unwelcome in that town. Y'all need to think a little deeper than just a give me my Easter doodle campaign. Doesn't anyone have anything else more important to do, like actually celebrate Easter themselves with their families and their church instead of worrying about whether their search engine will do it for them? Such silliness, I can't even believe it.

Going back to more important things in the world, like Google's new Nose app in BETA: https://www.google.com/intl/en/landing/nose/

Here is another perspective.
If I am Jewish, do I need my hammer to celebrate Passover?
If I am Muslim, do I need my coffeemaker to celebrate Eid?
If I am Christian, do I need my search engine to celebrate Easter?
It's nice that Google has chosen to have its page celebrate events/people it deems significant. The first Google Doodle was for Burning Man, a significant event for many Googlers (and myself).
On the other hand, I would never expect Google to put a Doodle up for Burning Man or any other event that I deem significant, because it's not. my. company. nor. is. it. my. tool.
