Sandhan Valley: Valley of shadow - 3000 feet above MSL (Approx)

“SANDHAN” …. is a beautiful place situated in the Western Ghats near Ratangad. Amidst the water carved valley of 50 to 500 feet deep and around two km long. We will be exploring the valley till it’s opening into Konkan.

Ratangad: Jewel Fort –

4250 feet above MSL (Approx)

The fort is origin for the river Pravara / Amrutvahini . The Bhandardara dam is built on this river. Ratangad has a natural rock peak with a cavity in it at the top which is called 'Nedhe' or 'Eye of the Needle'; formed by natural erosion, it is big enough to accommodate a group of ten people and the view of the entire region from here is absolutely amazing. Ratangad was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle and was one of his favorites. Ratangad, a jewel fort of Sahyadris has conventionally said to have 2 routes. One, from Ratanwadi village via Ganesh Darwaja and the other from Samrad village via Trimbak Darwaja. We will be climbing the fort from

Ganesh Darwaja.

Katrabai: A Mountain Pass – 4300 feet above MSL (Approx)

The most important pass on Trans Sahyadri trek. This pass is known for passage between Ratangad and Harishchandragad. This pass gives an excellent 360° view of the area.

Kaladgad – 3200 feet above MSL (Approx)

This Hill fort is located between right angle of well spreaded Harishchandragad Hill in Dist Ahmednagar. This fort is located south of Pethechi Wadi village. Many call it Shiva Lingam and Nandi combo, as it looked like that.

Harishchandragad – 4500 Feet above MSL (Approx)

Harishchandragad:

The fort is quite ancient, considered to be from the medieval period. The Great sage Changdev (one who wrote the epic Tatvasaar), used to meditate here in 14th century. The caves are also from the same period. Harishchandragad was captured by the Marathas in 1747 from the Moguls.

Basic Check List

A) Attire : light and stretchable trousers ; Avoid heavy jeans ; light winter wear (if it is cold); Shoes – sports used ones ; socks -2 pairs;
B) Medical Kit : Personal medicines if any : I will bring First aid stuff.. ( need to buy some fever tablets & glucose )
C) Food & Water : 3-4 litres per head (will buy in pune) ; you can buy energy drinks ; Food :Dry Fruits; Fruits; Salad Items; chocolates; biscuits ;Plum cakes.. ;
D) Things : Torch ; Pocket Knife ; Basic Magnetic Compass ; Good Rucksack or Backpack ; Camera; Soaps, Creams, Towel , Brush, Candles ; Match box/lighter
E) Bedding : (Sleeping Bag) + Sleeping Mat + Air Pillow (Optional) + Muffler or Monkey Cap

Please do not carry sling bags + Please avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments.

Itinerary

The Schedule for 4 days is:

Day 0 Wednesday
8pm : Start to Pune

Day-1
9 am : Pune
8am-10am : start to samrad
4pm : reach samrad
4pm-6 pm : Roam around samrad
Night Camping
Day-2
Breakfast & Explore Sandhan Valley
Have lunch
Ascend Ratangad via Trimbak Darwaja
Visit Nedhe & occupy cave on the fort.
Day-3
Breakfast and start towards Katrabai pass
Cross Katrabai, and reach Kumshet for lunch
Trek again till pethe chi wadi
Visit Kaladgad Fort in the evening for the sunset view.
Dinner & Stay

Day-4
Early morning start towards Pachnai, Breakfast at Pachnai
Ascend Harishchandragad from Pachnai, have lunch on the fort
Explore fort and descend towards khireshwar
Back journey to pune
Start to Hyd

Day-5 MOnday
reach Hyd morning 11:30 Am begumpet

Damages: (Rs 3300/-) ball park figure per head which includes transport /stay /expertise /supervision/ (Food and water Excluded..)
