RE: [javascript-12] Front End Web Developer Position - Contract to Hire

Yea.  I wasn’t sure when I sent my spam-search out for a developer recently. Sorry to those it bugged.

1.    A good technique was used by the SF HTML5 group that has a separate job section in their forum

http://www.sfhtml5.org/messages/boards/

2.    They also have a message somewhere (I can’t find it now) about what you can/can’t do wrt using their mailing list.

The moderator should be able to screen messages.

Linc-

(aside: My experience is that it’d be nice if Meetup gave more fine-grained control wrt the mailing list/s and generally made their controls more useable.)

Agreed. I apologize for adding onto this madness. I say we keep job stuff to the bulletin board.

We need to separate the job stuff into a separate list. This is getting out of hand.

Our start up client in San Francisco is looking for a Front End Developer for a 6 contract to hire opportunity.

Our client is 100% Microsoft shop, and use Visual Studio 2008, as well as C# and JQuery. As a front end developer, you may also leverage additional javascript libraries like Prototype, Dojo, Scriptaculous. We use progressive enhancement to make our site look and work great even if JavaScript is disabled. Our fast-moving team is forward thinking (HTML5, Comet, Mobile WebKit), but we know we can't forget about our past (IE6).

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience creating cross-browser solutions that separate structure, presentation and behavior using semantic XHTML\HTML5 markup, CSS 2\3, and modern unobtrusive JavaScript.

In order to be considered for this role, you must be comfortable with the DOM, and have extensive (3+ years) experience with frameworks like jQuery. You may even know a couple of ways that JavaScript can be better than Java or C!  You know something about minimizing HTTP connections.

Breathes CSS and HTML, knows what's on the road map for CSS3 but also can make things work in IE

Knows that JavaScript is a programming language in its own right and masters it as such

Understands that the client side cannot operate alone but is part of an equal partnership with the server

Someone who is not afraid of building server-side services for the client side to use

Undergraduate degree required; Advanced degree preferred
