ROSE CEREMONY (?AI LE VU LAN)
In Celebration Buddha?s Mother?s Day
Sunday, August 17th, 2008
From 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Join us for a delightful evening to celebrate ?AI LE VU LAN ?-A Buddhist Celebration honoring Shakyamuni Buddha?s Mother and all mothers and fathers throughout space and time. According to Zen Master Th?ch Nhat Hanh, this Plum Village-Style Rose Ceremony is as important as the Ceremony for the Birth of the Buddha (Vesak), for it nourishes our understanding, love, and gratitude for our parents and all beings.

We will start the celebration with a Dharma Talk by Venerable Ty Kheo Th?ch Huong Hue, followed by a chanting of the Three Refuges and a reading of Su ?ng Th?ch Nhat Hanh?s A Rose for Your Pocket. During this Plum Village-style Rose Ceremony, all participants will be invited pin to their lapels two flowers in representation of each of their parents: a red rose if parent is still alive or a white rose if he or she is no longer alive. At about 7:00 P.M., our Rose Ceremony will be followed by joyful singing and a delicious Vietnamese vegetarian dinner. The Celebration will be conducted in English and Vietnamese.

This event is free and open to the public. However, your generosity in providing a donation or Dana for the monastic Sangha is gratefully accepted and encouraged. Your kind donation helps support the activities of the Sangha (e.g., defray the costs associated with maintaining the meditation hall, offering activities, beverages and meals) and is greatly appreciated.
