Joy and connection to the gifts and beauty of life are available to us all, even when we encounter challenging life circumstances.  When we are able to compassionately inquire into our stressful thinking and limiting beliefs that keep us stuck in pain, fear, judgement and separation, we are more able to access peace, clarity, happiness and our own deeper wisdom. 

When we suffer from confusion, unhappiness, or stress, we often look outside of ourselves for relief and what we find is fleeting and ultimately unsatisfactory. We try to 'solve' our problems with even more thinking, seeking approval from others, the perfect relationship, more money, better looks, the “right” answers, etc. We try to control and change other people, ourselves and life to fit how we think it is supposed tot be to get what we want and make ourselves feel better.  This often perpetuates stress and the war with “what is” – the fundamental nature of reality, which will not be controlled and always includes uncertainty and impermanence.

I have found the Work to be a profoundly beautiful and transformative practice in all areas of my life: relationships, parenting, money, professional life, finding my voice for more authentic and courageous communication, illness, loss and grief...  The Work gives me a way to access exactly what I need to see and realize to find my own peace and wisdom, and access the deeper learning and capacity to be with life as it is, and to dance with it and contribute more fully.  I am deeply grateful to have found The Work and to have the opportunity to practice with it myself and share with others.

What if all I need to live in a peaceful world is to answer four simple questions and the turnarounds? What if all the answers I ever sought are waiting within and are available when I sit with an open mind in sincere inquiry? This is the invitation of Byron Katie’s Work.

Katie says that The Work is merely four questions and the turnarounds; it’s not even a thing. It has no motive, no strings. It’s nothing without your answers. These four questions will join any program you’ve got and enhance it. Any religion you have – they’ll enhance it. If you have no religion, they will bring you joy. And they’ll burn up anything that isn’t true for you. They’ll burn through to the reality that has always been waiting.

The Work gives us a clear way to access this timeless wisdom for ourselves. We learn to identify the thoughts and beliefs we are attaching to that are keeping us stuck and suffering, and then inquire into our beliefs one at a time using The Four Questions of The  Work and turnarounds with genuine examples.

The  four questions are:
1. Is it true?
2. Can I absolutely know that it’s true?
3. How do I react, what happens when I believe that thought?
4. Who would I be without the thought?
And then... Turn it around.
