New Meetup: Day Trip No12: Bratislava Biennial of Illustration and Czech Puppet Show

Announcing a new Meetup for Tokyo Museum Meetup Group!

What: Day Trip No12: Bratislava Biennial of Illustration and Czech Puppet Show

When: Saturday, December 4,[masked]:30 PM

I have been interested in Czech Puppets since I was enchanted by stop motion animations by Jan Svankmajer. Those puppets are not necessarily cute but have lots of unique and lovable characteristics. I have seen a handful of Czech films with puppets but have not seen the real Czech puppets themselves. However, we now have opportunity to see them at Chiba City Museum of Art. The museum is holding an exhibition called "Bratislava Biennial of Illustration and Czech Puppet Show." The Bratislava Biennial of Illustration is the world's largest exhibition of original picture book illustrations. The last biennial was held in 2009, and award-winning entries from the biennial are exhibited in this show along with works by Japanese illustrators and puppet from the Czech Republic. Hope some of you still have the child in you and are interested in checking out the illustrated books and puppets with me.
