Become a VE Route Setter
Have you ever been interested in setting routes? Here is an opportunity to take a three week clinic on setting and see if you have what it takes. Limited to first 25 participants. You must be able to attend all three dates; Jan 27, Feb 10 & 17. Email [address removed] for more information.
Attention Women Climbers!
Two things:
1. Do you want to become a setter? Longtime setter Randy (RJB) is looking to help fast track a few women setters in order to get a more diverse group working at VEM. He will conduct a guerilla setting clinic with the right person(s). He asks that you be a confident climber that understands movement (at least your own, you can be trained). 2. We will soon be welcoming Carolyn Hansen to the TCRC Meetup. She organizes the Diva Women's Clinics at Midwest Mountaineering and was a clinic instructor at the 2012 Sandstone Ice Fest. Carolyn will be scheduling some women specific events on our calendar including bouldering at MWM and at the MN Climbing Co-op. This will likely lead to VE events and outdoor events as well and provide a chance for women climbers to meet each other and hopefully form new climbing partnerships.
Group Trips to North Shore and Blue Mounds
Once again, Matt Holland is organizing some group trips for Meetup climbers! In May, TCRC Meetup will be going to Blue Mounds State Park in SW Minnesota for a weekend of camping and climbing. In June, TCRC Meetup will be at the North Shore with options to climb Shovel Point, Palisade Head, Carlton Peak, and more. Check out the links in the choss pile below or visit the Meetup calendar for details. Also, watch for possible trips to Devils Lake, WI and Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, AR coming up in 2013.
T-Shirts
I have a handful of TCRC Meetup t-shirts for sale for $17. At least one of each size from S-XL are onhand. Unisex sizing. Email me if interested.
Event Hosts
Is there a night of the week that you always climb at the gym? Want to meet new climbers? Contact me to become an event host. Event hosts can schedule, modify, and monitor events on the Meetup calendar on a one time or ongoing basis. Don't forget, anyone can suggest a Meetup right from the home page of our site.
TCRC Meetup Climber Benefit Card!
Read about the great deal with VE that we have worked out for eligible TCRC Meetup Climbers here. Climbers who purchase a TCRC Meetup Member Benefit Card receive $3 off admission at Minneapolis and St Paul VE every Thursday night or if you have an annual VE membership, receive an exra 5% off of gear purchases! The link says $5 per card, the cost is now only $3. If you already purchased one at the $5 rate, you will receive a new one without expiration date before your card expires.
