Health Behavior Change: Design The Future of Tech & Medicine

Details

In this joint event with Behavior Science Berlin, we will be looking into the future of healthcare technology, the opportunities to change health behaviors, and support doctors and patients in designing solutions to one of society’s most pressing issues.

Come to hear talks by Mae Wiskin (Smart tech & psychopathology) Dr. Emil Kendziorra (founder of Medlanes), UX/UI designer Valentina Rao (gamification, mental health) and for the small group discussions to explore these topics in depth with your peers.

>> RSVP both here & on the Behavior Science Berlin (http://bit.ly/2a58wa3) Meetup to stay updated<<

As an organizer for both meetups, I (Friedolin) love to find the intersections and overlaps of disciplines, because often that is where great discoveries are made, collaborations formed, and where our assumptions get challenged for the better.

Bios of the speakers:

Mae Wiskin received a dual bachelors degree in Law, Societies, and Justice and Comparative Islamic Studies from The University of Washington in Seattle. Upon leaving the Pacific Northwest, she worked for grassroots non-profit organizations in Thailand, Cairo, and Oaxaca. Prior to receiving a Masters in Design Studies from Parsons, Mae lived in Zambia in Sub-Saharan Africa, where she served with the United States Peace Corps as a USAID global health worker. Her research, "Mental Health by Design," conducted at both Parsons and Columbia University, explores the intersections between psychopathology, emerging smart technologies, messaging based behavioral therapies and technoethics.

Dr. Emil Kendziorra is a founder and CEO at the digital health company Medlanes. He is a medical doctor, worked in translational cancer research and starting his first tech company during university before fully switching to entrepreneurship. After moving to Berlin he founded a B2B data analysis company offering customer intelligence. In Medlanes he fully combines his two big passions, medicine and technology.

Valentina Rao is a UX/UI designer and researcher working with gamification and meaningful play - in the last years her main interest has been how to apply gamification design in the fields of mental health and disability/chronic illness - her research work is about how to evaluate the most effective practices in information visualisation and interaction design to change habits and create new behaviours.
